Beautifully Different (musical response)

Today’s Reverb10 prompt is from Karen Walrond:

Beautifully different.

Think about what makes you different and what you do that lights people up. Reflect on all the things that make you different – you’ll find they’re what make you beautiful.

I decided to respond to this one musically. I recorded this today with pedal steel (a beautifully different instrument, and one that I hardly ever play), electric guitar and a bit of keys (that R2-D2 sound is a wurlitzer patch through a ring modulator…also something beautifully different sounding).

How does it reveal what makes me different? You tell me!

Sounds awesome, and love your blog. Music stuff is somewhat of an addiction for me. This is what today’s #reverb10 was about hands down. So far you’re the only one who I think managed to do something interesting with a relatively uninteresting prompt.

  2. It reveals that you are willing to do things differently – to stand out – to be seen (and heard, as it turns out). VERY beautiful (the music & the fact that you’re willing to do things differently!

beautifully different would make a great album title. i think it describes your sense of melody perfectly.
