Reactionary Mode

by Christine Bougie | April 15th, 2010

I’ve been slipping into reactionary mode lately.  It’s not my favourite way to work, but occasionally it just happens.

This means that every day is spent preparing for the next day.  And sometimes it means preparing the day-of.

Last night I scanned over my calendar and got clear about what really has to get done in those deceivingly white areas.

Somehow, over the next two weeks I will:

  • record bed tracks for my album
  • play 3 more shows with Jenny Whiteley
  • record a demo for a kids tune with Ali
  • spend a day in the studio recording that same kids tune
  • lift 6 more Hall & Oates tunes (Dafydd and I are doing a Hall & Oates night at The Tranzac, most likely on May 10th)
  • write material for Tuxedo (and prep for a couple gigs coming up)
  • play my regular gigs around town (Mondays at The Tranzac, last Saturday of the month at The Gladstone with Joanne Mackell)
  • teach a few guitar lessons
  • keep up with my blog posts (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday)
  • stay sane

Today I’ll be doing some recording, and tonight I’ll be playing with The Low Notes at The Drake (10pm)

p.s. thanks to everyone who pre-ordered my album this week!
