The Making Of Aloha Supreme: Aloha Supreme!

I’m working on a new album, Aloha Supreme, to be released in October 2010.  For more details, read this.

Aloha Supreme, the title track of the album, was written with two singers in mind.

I imagined that if Elvis Presley and Diana Ross had made a film together,  this could be their big duet.  It would be a mid-60’s movie, sort of like Blue Hawaii, but with a Motown twist.

I chose to play all the instruments on this one so that I could re-create what was in my head with overdubs.

There are two lap steel voices – the first one you hear is Elvis, the next one (an octave higher) is Diana…

That’s all I’m going to give you for now.  You’ll have to wait a while to hear the rest!

So, the album is officially out of my hands now.  Dean will be mixing it soon, somehow in the midst of touring with Sarah Harmer (who just released a new album herself!)  I don’t really like to be there for mixing.  It’s too hard when it’s your own music.
Thanks so much for all the pre-orders and donations!  95 days of fundraising to go…

I can’t wait! That was kinda mean to fade out as soon as the groove started too…. 😛

I agree with phil – that was just mean! It sounds amazing though; can’t believe I have to wait until October for the rest. 😛 You’re going to spend your summer planning a Western Canada tour though, right?
